A panel of industry experts, shipping executives and infrastructure leaders said the proposed Great Nicobar transshipment port could significantly strengthen India’s maritime capabilities and create new economic opportunities in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. During a policy discussion, speakers highlighted the project’s potential to reduce logistics costs, improve cargo movement, generate employment and attract investments in port-led industries. They also stressed the need for faster infrastructure development, stronger connectivity and ease of doing business to support long-term growth.
