Speaking at the Andaman Ideas Summit 2026, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju described the Andaman & Nicobar Islands as one of India’s greatest strategic and developmental assets. He said the time has come to move beyond the perception of the islands as remote regions and instead position them at the centre of India’s maritime, tourism and economic vision. Highlighting changes in connectivity, digital governance and infrastructure over the past decade, Rijiju called for closer collaboration between government, industry and citizens to unlock the islands’ full potential and accelerate their contribution to India’s long-term growth.
